Way to Survey-Way to make money at home, paid surveys

stupid question, i know,,but i have to be sure…if an internet site says…."You will be paid directly by the marketing research firm conducting the survey or focus group." what does that mean? like an actual person is going to come to my door step or am i just going to recieve a check in the mail? i know it sounds like im retarted..but i just want to be sure:) thanks
