Nursing is hard work so if you don’t think you have a calling for it, don’t waste time going to school for it.

If you are having second thoughts about becoming a RN, then don’t. This profession requires dedication to serve the sick. It includes cleaning up vomit, and wiping butts, to sucking out snot from throats and noses. Being a nurse is not glamorous, and it is long hours. My shift is 12 hours long, mostly standing, walking, and lifting. I’ve been a nurse for 20 years and still love it. Yes, I get frustrated and sometimes think I’d rather do something else, especially when I’ve missed most of my children’s ball games or events, but when I see a heart beat come back from someone who is dead as a door nail, and see a baby take it’s first breath, it’s worth it.
I’ve cried with my patients and laughed with them too. Be a nurse if you want a rewarding occupation, not just for the money.
