Opened up a bag of tortilla chips the other day–They tasted fine. I didn’t get sick. They expired in June of ‘09.
Sure, some things like cow’s milk will expire, but do tortilla chips really only have a life expectancy of a few months? (I’m assuming a few months–I’ve haven’t bought chips since probably around Jan. ‘09.)
My mom doesn’t believe in expiration dates… She has a drink mix (Crystal Light) that expired circa 2007 that she still uses. No ill effects yet.
So, are they really necessary, or are they just a "freshest by" date or somethin’?

I’ve never believed expiration dates.. there was a TV programme on a while back and a guy ate meat 2 weeks after it had gone off and there was nothing wrong with him.
