I know the first one came before the other… but are they both true?

I’m taking a customer service survey online for a store I was at, and I decided to take it in Spanish to test myself and see if I could understand it (I’m studying Spanish in school). Anyhow, there were some words that seemed…odd, and I’m wondering what the deal is with them:

First, one question asked "Fuistes usted satisfecho…etc". As far as I know, "fuistes" isn’t a word. The closest thing I know of is "fuiste," which is the tu form, so why use it with the usted form like they did in this question, and where did "fuistes" come from.

Secondly, they asked "Son usted hembra o varon?" "Son" is plural, "usted" is singular. How can you use them together like that?

So, is there some grammar I’m not aware of here, or are the people who made this survey just idiots?
Someone said that "fuistes" is the vosotros form. Isn’t "fuisteis" vosotros?

My boyfriend is deciding between going to law school at Barry University in Orlando Florida or working for Deloitte in NYC or Washington DC in the financial sector. He had set his mind on Law School and then got offered the opportunity with Deloitte. I don’t think he will go back to Law School if he starts working and making money. These are both good opportunities but he has to make a decision soon and doesn’t know which one is the right thing to do. Anyone have any advice? Law School or Money?

Almost every internet page contains adverts on the side talking about how easy it is to make money online. I am in need of quick cash, but not too sure if I should believe all the hype. Does anyone have genuine advise for me to follow?
