i know an officer make more money than enlisted guys but enlisted guys can receive enlistment bonus and reenlistment bonuses so i was wondering does an officer really makes more money than an enlisted guy if that enlisted guy gets paid a large reenlistment bonus
im not joining because of the money. it was just a question on my mind

If your motive to enlist is money, please don’t. You’re better off going with a civilian job.
But to answer your question, Officers get more money.

A bonus is almost obsolete anymore. If your going into the Army for the money then you will be severely disappointed. I could make alot more money as a civilian but I love servi g those who serve me. But to answer your question, you will make more as an officer.

I’m pretty sure that Officers get reup bonuses too, so they’d still make the most money

Well from what I generally see the higher the rank the more pay you get. However time in services is also a factor.

Hello Chris,
No matter what - an officer makes more money than an enlisted person.
Not everyone gets any enlistment bonus. And, even reenlistment bonuses don’t make for a better quality of life considering the fact that almost everyone uses that money to buy a new car and obligate themselves to 60 months of car payments at $500 a month. Also, enlisted people have to pay 15% tax in those bonuses so the money ends up being much less.
You don’t join the services because of the pay. You don’t become and officer or enlisted person because of the pay. You enter to do the best job you are qualified for.
If you want to be an officer you must attend college for 4 years BEFORE entering the military.
Best wishes,

To my knowledge, the only enlisted service members who make more money than officers outright are people in the Special Operations, because they get so many special "pays" (parachute pay, diver pay, hazardous duty pay, etc.) Otherwise, with time officers get a steep pay raise just for staying in service, which is hard for the enlisted pay to compete with.
Keep in mind that officers get their own bonuses if their skills are needed. Pilots, doctors, lawyers get a lot of additional pay just for staying in service. Officers in other branches get reenlistment bonuses too. A couple of years ago the Army was giving every captain up to $35,000 just to stay another 3 years in service.
