Can people on SSI work and make as much as they want with no money deducted from their SSI check?
heard this is something new that just started
These people are out working normal jobs claiming to be disabled also Theres no jobs left
Someone told me its new they can make as much as they want working

SSI is a low income program,so NO you can not.SSDI is a disability program so you can earn about 10 grand before they start taking away your benefits.

I haven’t heard that; as far as I know, if you get SSI, then you can only work a minimum amount of hours and then your check is deducted for whatever you earn above that amount. I wish they would stop this, because it keeps people from prospering and moving out of their bad situations….instead, they don’t work because they fear their little check is going to be questioned and they might lose it.
The whole thing is just like medicaid where it is designed to keep generation after generation "stuck" to the benefit received. People should be helped with a hand up to be able to improve their life situation so that their children will not end up on benefits for their entire lifetime as well….
New York City has 44,000 people who pay the LARGEST MAJORITY OF ALL TAXES AND OPERATION OF THE CITY…….five million sit around collecting welfare checks. Now the taxes are going to go sky-high and the Mayor is afraid that if only 5000 of those taxpayers LEAVE the city, they will be even more desperate than they are now to balance expenses and keep the City alive.
These are third and fourth generation welfare recipients, food stamp recipients, medicaid recipients.
If they were able to keep their benefits until they go to a trade school or got a job, many of them would do just that and get off the benefits merry-go-round. You would think that the 5 million would thank and appreciate the 44,000 who are keeping them in benefits, but instead the democrats have thugs at Acorn and the unions outside their homes with signs and threatening their families because they earn "too much money". The people they are upsetting and harrassing PAY ALL THEIR BILLS, SUBSIDIZE THEIR ELECTRIC, pay their food stamps and medical care, EVERYTHING.
Obama wants to divide the Country with bitter fights between races, financial classes and politics.
While we are all in-fighting, Obama is changing the Country into a Venezuela-type society and one day everyone will wake up and realize America is GONE. We are in big trouble.
