I was just wondering if I took the right path to my future. I’d be starting college in a week with the course of bs psychology because it’s the course that I fit into the most and I know psychologists are big money makers a couple of years back but I’m not sure about now. So… do they still make a lot of money?

I know Psychology can offer a vast option of professions and I plan to be an independent Psychologist. I don’t know if that make sense… but kinda like that mom in Freaky Friday.

Psychiatry is the most remunerative professional area, but both an MD and a Ph.D. in psychology are required. In general, even the most manifestly unprepared "therapists" can make a living, and many states have little or no requirements for hanging o ut a shingles advertising themselves as offering emotional "help."

A bachelor’s degree in psychology is merely a curiosity, and even a master’s is weak professional preparation. Ya gotta go all the way to the Ph.D. before you can claim respectable professional prep.

In times of economic tension the patient pool expands, but at the same time the ability to pay out of pocket lessens. It’s sort of like funeral homes: people die anyway, and must be buried, but families cannot pay for elaborate services.
