At what point did fans start trippin off how much money an artist makes? And even worse, using it as a justification for being a fan?

I know we have always looked at charts to see who has the most popular songs but we really weren’t processing that as how much is going into the artist pocket. It was more of an affirmation of our taste in music than it was a monetary thing. We didn’t know, or even think about, how much money was being made by the people we liked. We had no idea if Rick James was making more than Prince or if Earth Wind & Fire made more than Cameo. We just figured they were all getting paid and left it at that. But never once did we talk about how much someone was worth.

Now we have a whole generation that not only cares about the amount of records sold, but total sales for a clothing line, vitamin water, vodka or whatever else these dudes want to put their name on. It’s just another sign we’ve become completely obsessed with consumerism. Making money now makes you an entertainer.

I’m seriously asking this question …. when did this turn?

please i need some help from someone who knows a rel online survey site that trully pays. i have tried a lot of them but after registration the first surveys you get you will have to wait till forever to get another survey. eeven the onces that send sirvey dont pay. you can only read your money from the computer. so please i need an infomation on a real survey site that trully works.
