absolutely - it is called a budget. seems like a corporate thing, but works well for people too.
write down how much money you make each month, and how much you need to spend - food, petrol, insurance, rent/mortgage, utilities. Make an estimate of car repairs, any health and beauty costs, etc - write down everything you can think of.
if there are certain months that are more expensive than others, make a 12 column sheet, for months, and put those costs in the months. (ie holiday season, vacation plan)
Credit card payments
Now look to find places to save - one of the big ones might be the two cups of fancy coffee or tea from the local bistro - cut out 10/day!
Once you have more money coming in, than going out, you can start working on savings - the trick is to save this money first, and work with what you have for the rest of the month….
if you have credit card debt, you must get out from under that first - the interest rates are crippling.
Don't be hesitant to kinda "shut down spending" for a couple months - drink tap water, eat cheap, get vids and books from the library - make a big dent in any debt, get a fresh start and get back on track.
