    No, they can't.

  2. Zoe Dot Says:

of course, they are profiting, they aren't stupid. what would be the point of the war if they weren't profiting somehow.

  3. Cookie Monster Says:

Thank you for asking this question. I hear so many baseless accusations with nothing to back it up. (case in point: the poster above me- and below me) LOL

ADD: I would also like to say that I was listening to a financial person talking about mutual funds and that most people have oil companies or those affiliated companies wihtin their funds. If you want to say Cheney is profiting simply by being a stockholder, then you can say that most of us are profiting. In addition, to people not realize that Haliburton was the only company that bid for the contract in question. Apparently it is very specialized work and there are few companies who actually do what they do.

  4. Mohab Says:

You'de have to be in the government to get your hands on numbers and names.

  5. T Says:

LOL like they would actually let the people see how much they make.

  6. gartenzwerg8 Says:

Bush's oil company- Arbusto. Oil companies are making billions from the high oil prices. Whats the cause of the high oil prices?? The Iraq war!!

  7. Sugar Daddy Says:

Cheney has had some Halliburton stock since the war began. He has made a considerable amount of money on it (see sources).

Bush, I'm not so sure you'd have a very easy time finding that info. His father is closely affiliated with the Carlyle Group which has holdings with a lot of oil, construction and defense companies. So perhaps that is a place to start your research.

  8. nemesis Says:

You mean something like a bank statement, a cancelled check or their fingerprint on the suitcases that held the money?. What actual proof do you want?

  9. a girl in the world Says:

i refuse to do ur leg-work….but look into KBR, Halliburton, and the fact that Cheney was the #1 a long time til critisism came about. He still banks off the bitch@s, but anyway….Think…oil,$,texas……….HUH

  10. Wolf Says:

Nope, no one can provide sources. Why because there is no proof, only speculation.
Thats the thing with conspiracy theories. There are so many questions but never any answers.
Just look at the answers here. They give possible theories but none that they can back up with hardhitting evidence.

  11. jonas s Says:

    H A L L I B U R T O N ( 40% of all Iraqi no bid contracts)
Cheney was ceo/chrmn, had $180 million in stock option in 1999 , now those option are woth ………………..$2.1 Billion,,,,,,,

    C A R L Y L E Group
Bush Sr, has a ownership stake in Carlyle group ( 55% of Iraqi no bid contracts went to carlyle owned companies ) worth $17million in 1999 now worth…………….$820million

    so starve america

papa (bush) needs a new pair of shoes

  12. thedrizzleypickles Says:

cheney still owns a large amount of stock in Haliburton - oilfield technologies and services…he was once the CEO or chairman or something…he stands to make a large amount of money if he sells his stock because american oil companies have (in general) done very well since we've been at war….they (and the rest of OPEC) have been able to jack up oil prices with no real reason (barring venezuela and iraq, they did have some problems…but venezuela is still producing oil as is iraq)

  13. Sageandscholar Says:

Not them maybe - but plenty of friends are.

  14. Moderates Unite! Says:

I dont think they are directly making money off of the war, but like Clinton before them, the people Bush and Cheney have "taken care of" while in the White House will be sure to take care of them after they leave office.
Why else does Bill Clinton earn millions from speaking engagements??? He did favors for people who are now doing favors for him.
The problem with Bush and Cheney is their decisions have cost 4000 American lives and over 1 million Iraqi civilian lives. So the equation doesnt balance out.
    Clinton= typical dirty politics
    Bush/Cheney= completely amoral

  15. Right Wing Conservative Hawk Says:

They can't Now, They Can't tomorow. They can't ever.
This was the mantra layed out by the dim media when
Cheney had the Oil execs come to the meeting to discuss
future Oil requirments and plans for the Country. Spun out of
control by left wing media fanatics who thought they could
energize a weak minded base, and create more hate and
distcontent for the administration than they already had,

  16. Tired Says:

there is no money off the war! Just hollywood and left wing liberal talk , just like its not about oil if it was we wouldnt be paying high prices at the pumps.

  17. Spencer M Says:

Next time you gas up your car why don't you ask yourself that question? Yes they are making money off the Iraq war at the expense of 4000 lives, you will not ever receive proof in writing, there won't be any news media reports, that's the beauty of it. But Carlyle was right, "No lie can live forever…" Bush and Cheney will one day be exposed eventhough it will be too late.

  18. gaston h Says:

We knew Bush was an oilman before he stepped into office. All their friends are in a feeding frenzy in Iraq

  19. ross Says:

When you have millions already, it's more about power, and less about wealth. George Bush needs those people he is working for to like him.

  20. Robert S Says:

    ………………. Nope.

  21. nicoles Manga Dance Says:

besides the fact that bush IS and will be an oil tycoon after the war….ok

  22. meaninglessnesspersonified Says:

Can you provide credible proof Bush and Cheney are NOT making money off the Iraq war? It would seem far more plausible to believe they are, given a host of what would be naive to consider "coincidences"–Cheney's having been CEO of Halliburton in the 90s, a few years after granting Halliburton subsidiary Brown & Root significant military contracts; Halliburton's illegally trading with Iraq and Libya in the early 90s; several instances of Halliburton receiving no-bid military contract work; Halliburton's merger with Dresser Industries, which had employed three generations of Bushes (Prescott, George H.W., and George W.); myriad connections between the Carlyle Group and the Bushes, the Department of Defense, Saudi Arabia, and the bin Laden family; et al. Do you think these intersections of political and financial power have been working hand in hand in the areas of war, oil, campaign funding, and overseas investments just for the good, clean fun of it, with no intention of profiting from the absurdly beneficial ties that have just happened to form over the last century? If so, why do you think that way?

UPDATE: You're right–in this country, people are considered to be innocent until proven guilty. Bush/Cheney and Friends, Inc., are certainly glad that's not true in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay. And since nobody with any proof of Bush/Cheney war profiteering has gone to–uh … the cops? the better business bureau?–I suppose they are completely innocent of the widely assumed charge highlighted in your question.

Your turn. Can you provide actual proof the Sun will come out tomorrow?
